Two months ago Netflix made an announcement that the company would be splitting up the video streaming and mail-order services into two different ones. In doing that, they would be charging each service individually. Well, hold on to your britches kids because the Netflix is making yet another change, they are changing the name of the mail order service from Netflix to Qwikster.
In the past, if you were a Netflix customer then you would receive both the streaming and mail order DVDs in an unlimited amount for just $9.99 a month. That is the main reason that many customers were so drawn to the company in the first place. Now the streaming and mail order will be $7.99 each per month.
On top of the price increases, Netflix and Qwikster will basically become two separate entities all together, so if you want both mail order and streaming, you will have to manage them separately now.
Customers are not happy with the new policies and the name change. Many have decided to unsubscribe and look elsewhere for their streaming, and there are plenty of other options out there for you. If you are not happy, then look into some of the following companies:
- Hulu
- Amazon Instant Video
- Apple TV
- Vudu
- Blockbuster
